The Secret Life of Walter Mitty by James ThurberMeet Walter Mitty.
Hes a Husband.
Hes a Captain of a Navy ship
Hes a toughest man on the trial
Hes the man who can a woman from distress and is a hero to all man kind.
Hes also worrying his wife, his co-workers, his boss and his shrink.
Walter Mitty has dreams. Dreams of being a hero. But hes not dreaming them in bed, like everyone else is. Hes dreaming these events while driving, while shopping, talking to his wife, walking down the street. He sees himself as a hero to everyone, but doesnt really do anything about it. Hes just your average Joe that is taking his wife to get her hair done. And while she is getting her hair done, he runs errands. But everyday life, everything that we see, feel, touch, hear generates this scene in his head where he is the hero to the story and hes living it right then and there!! While everyone looks at him like hes weird, he doesnt see what wrong with this!!
As a writer I was thrilled that I am not the only person that this is happening too!!! I cant tell you how many times I will be sitting at the Library that I work at and there will be an event that will take place, or someone says something to me and it triggers a scene playing in my head and Im living that story out (in my head of course). I am a writer and I am always getting scenarios playing out in my head that sometimes leave me speechless until I am writing that out in my laptop. Sometimes I talk out loud the scenes but hey, Im a writer its allowed. (I think....)

Video Essay: The Secret Life of Walter Mitty
Walter Mitty , American literary character, a meek and bumbling man who spends much of his time lost in heroic daydreams. Mitty struggles to remember a shopping list, bungles parking his car, and endures routine scolding from his wife. All the while, he pictures himself in a variety of dramatic fantasies as a maverick surgeon, a devilish assassin, and a British Royal Air Force pilot. The imaginary Mitty never triumphs. Just as he is about to achieve his fantasy destiny, he is always pulled back into real life, usually because of an incident resulting from his own distraction. At the end of the story, he envisions himself fearlessly facing death at the hands of a firing squad. Subsequently, it became one of the most anthologized and well-known American short stories of the 20th century.
Walter Mitty is an introverted guy with an active fantasy life, according to the classic short story by James Thurber. Though he hardly ever has ventured out of his native New York, Walter is able to shed his timidity and exchange his imagined heroic fantasies for the real thing, in record time. Stiller, who directs and stars in Mitty , has loosely based his film on the story and given it a contemporary setting. But by trying to combine fantasy and romance with goofy humor, globe-trotting adventure and feel-good inspiration, Stiller has made Mitty a mixed bag of clashing tones and facile redemption. He bypasses Thurber's satirical treatment in favor of plodding earnestness.
The film was chosen by the National Board of Review as one of the top ten films of Walter Mitty is a negative assets manager at Life magazine who daydreams of adventures and has a crush on a coworker named Cheryl Melhoff. Mitty works with photojournalist Sean O'Connell, whose images are highly regarded. O'Connell has sent Mitty his latest negatives and a wallet as a gift in appreciation of Mitty's work. O'Connell believes negative 25 captures the "quintessence of Life" and that it should be used for the cover of the magazine's final print issue as it converts to online status. The negative is missing, forcing Walter to stall for time with corporate transition manager Ted Hendricks, who is handling the downsizing. While he views the other negatives, Cheryl suggests that Mitty think of the negatives as clues to Sean's location.
